i believe he looks more comfortable at third , i just don't see the agility needed to cover the SS or 2nd pad spots . but then he has a problem , the only place we may have a question is at short . long term that is , with tito consistantly bringing in cora for lugo late in games because of lugos fielding slump .

Lowrie may get all this negative slack about his defensive performance (mostly a lack of range) but I mean.. look at Lugo. The only reason Lugo has stuck around as long as he has is because they think he's got an excellent offensive upside (or the potential).

I think Lowrie definitely has that same upside but with even more plate discipline than Lugo. I agree with Peter in that there's a good chance they cut their losses with Lugo and promote Lowrie. Especially if we keep Cora around for a late-game defensive replacement (I know he mentioned last year how much he misses having a starting job but I'm hoping he'll come around and realize that he doesn't have the offensive prowess to start anymore.)

If the errors keep piling up for Lugo at SS the Sox may want to cut their losses aka Edgar Renteria and go with the youth movement up the middle with Pedroia (who came up as a SS), Lowrie and Ellsbury.
