Rituals and Superstitions

Jim, much has been made on the superstitions of Wade Boggs and how
Boggs feel they helped his hitting.  I was curious if you had any superstitions yourself when you hit and whether you feel they helped or not.

I never really had any rituals.  I didn’t step on the white line when I came on or off the field which is something a lot of guys do.  If things were going good for me I might wear the same pair of shoes for a while.  I guess we all had small superstitions, but nothing too crazy.  Wade ate chicken before every game, but I didn’t eat before a game.  Some guys could eat, but running around in the hot sun after eating a meal didn’t work for me.  That’s what these superstitions are all about: doing whatever works.
